Farmer Max Chavez’s story from Practical Farmers of Iowa
Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) is a key partner in Iowa’s LFPA. In their Winter 2023 Magazine, author and Senior Latino Engagement Coordinator Valeria Cana Camacho’s piece highlights Max Chavez’s work and personal journey as a farmer. Part of this story features his experience with LFPA.
PFI member Max Chavez says the LFPA program opened many doors for him. In addition to selling thousands of dollars of produce into the program, Max says he was able to donate a further 2,000 pounds of produce to two area food rescue organizations, Eat Greater Des Moines and Food Bank of Iowa, thanks to the connections he made.
